You can have good oil pressure and compression...
From memory you have a centre mount singe carb on a type 4.
there is no pre heaters on that set up - so it will never idle well compared to a stock...

He may be setting correctly by the book - but it is not what the motor wants.
As said - mine is set at 40*
I wouldnt assume your mechanic always checks your timing.
I am more like 40* advance
Having just gone through a bit of timing drama, retarding timing is the last thing i would bo to get rid of a flat spot.

I prefer Dellorto DRLA 40's over Weber IDF 40's. Mainly because they take a larger idle over Weber IDFs
I would also be buying rebuilt Italian carbs...
