Gday Dusty. the conversion has come to a halt due health on my side & the mate deciding to stick with vw trans. the conversion would have been pretty straight forward. Ihad the front diff sorted & rear gearbox Xmember. maybe 1 day i'll get back to it. Ernie

Hi Ernie, thanks for the comment, i had an interesting conversation with a south african mate last week - when he heard i broken 4th gear - his first question was: "what where you towing?" apparently gearbox failures are pretty common in SA where they commonly stick EJ30's etc in their syncros -then break the gearboxes hauling big camper trailers. Mine has the standard 2.1 boxer and i was towing about 400kg of trailer and steel.
so I'm very interested in what you were doing with the suby transmission and diff conversion. Is it a complicated job? I've heard the diff has to be rotated/turned upside down??? Having just spent 9 weeks off the road working my way thru my first syncro gbox rebuild I'm keen never to do another one! So if and when i do the suby conversion I'd be planning to use the suby gbox as well. I'd appreciate any info you could give.
      cheers
      Dusty
