Check voltage at 15 (black) on the coil with 1 (green) connected. Make sure points are open.

Buy OEM or German or genuine VW.
(Except plugs) I would use NGK.
I would never ever use Ryco oil filters. I have seen too many failures.
After all of this testing your battery may need charging.
Disconnect terminal 1 (-) Green from coil and check voltage on 15 + Black (connected)
Make sure that you have the connections correct.
Starter switch has been installed because you have a defective ignition switch. It may have now failed completely.
Check with a meter or test lamp...
What is the compliance date on it? (VW and Trakka)

Could be a cause. Accelerate, weight moves back making intermittent contact in switch.
I may send them my toaster so that they can tell me how long it will last so that I can buy one on special. (sarcasm)
