    Default Roof racks for poptop

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone has fit roofracks to a poptop? I have spoken to a roof rack specialist and they estimate a cost in excess of $400 for the job. Met a guy yesterday who had bolted what appeared to be sail track in four locations on the side of his roof then fit Pajero Rola roof racks, total cost $5 + the cost of a second hand set of racks.
Has anyone done a similar job in the past?

I'm looking around for something that looks 70s to do the job.
There was this earlier thread on the same topic.

    Default poptop roof racks

recently fitted rhino track mounted roof racks to my kombi poptop. as you can see the pop top is not a vw original. Viewed similar fitting of roofracks on mitsubishi poptop which was anchored with bolts and single washers, and decided to run lengths of aluminium strip on underside of my pop top for extra strength. Used sikaflex sealant at each point of attatchment with stainless steel bolts and nylock nuts, coating each bolt in sikaflex to eliminate the possibility of electrolosis.
cost $380 for rhino setup + $30 for aluminium strip + $30 for sikaflex &bolts
and 2days and a few beers to fit with the occasional curse or two. the supplier lent me a jig for the weekend to measure so tracks ran parralell. Sole purpose for roof racks is to carry a mal surfboard. hope this is of use.
