Default Nimbin mardigrass kombi konvoy 2014

    SATURDAY 3rd MAY 2014

Time to start planning for this event. I assume that the camping at the Rainbow Power company will be offered to Konvoy participants again this year and will check to confirm.

This is a fantastic event that is part of the Nimbin MariGrass weekend celebrations.

The timing is great for anyone wishing to add this to their Bus Stop or Bluesfest as it is just two weekends later.

We usually get between 50-70 kombis.

Fantastic, details will be posted soon, I just need to catch up with Alan the Kombi Konvoy organiser and the Rainbow Power Company to confirm but the following is an outline of what normally happens..

The Konvoy will be gathering at Byron from 10am and leaving from Byron Bay Saturday morning approx. 12pm, stopping at Lismore to allow others to join and finally reach Nimbin at 4.20pm. It's a big day with lots of time to catch up with everyone and stops along the way for photo shoots.

The Konvoy winds it's way through the Village and the masses while our humble Kombis are worshiped and treated like royalty. The Konvoy finishes at The Rainbow Power Company where we are offered camping in an area allocated solely for Kombi Konvoy participants. This is offered at no charge but I'm not sure if the hat is handed around for a small donation towards one of Nimbin's community organisations.

    This years poster

Had a call from Allan the organiser this morning and he has checked with the Rainbow Power Company and they are happy to have the Konvoy Kombis camp overnight in their grounds again this year.
This is the perfect location as it is where the Konvoy finishes and just a block away from the main street and all the action. We are very lucky to have this offered to us.

    sounds good.
they are very happy to have us there so its been a good option. nice and close to festivities.
original suggestion was a gold coin donation but we usualy give something like $10 pp or kombi. whatever suits but I recon its cheap and definately handy at $10pp but its up to whatever people want to give.
Goes to a local charity .

    As a side Lorraine.
If its heavy rain might be better to park on the carpark rather than front lawn so we dont trash the lawn.
handy to have that discussed and sorted before we leave Lismore.

If anyone has a big communal sized tarp setup it would be good if we park on the grass as a central drink/feed/crash site.
I have quite a few poles n ropes n an average sized tarp.

Poster states 'gathering 11.30am at parking area, Somerset Street, leaving 12.30pm Byron Bay' but we usually get there a bit earlier for a good old catch up chat.

    See you there.

Details are on the poster in a previous post

Will Blue Bus and Molly make the Konvoy? As usual our kombis have decided to play up, brake problems for Blue Busses and as for Molly, who knows where she is at the moment after breaking down in Griffith at the Bus Stop. Even the car carriers have no idea, one tells me she should arrive in Lismore Thurs or Fri another tells Andy not to expect Molly till at least next week!

Andy has the new brake linings to go in but little time and I have the part for Molly on it's way from Roy. We just need some good luck and timing, fingers crossed.

Monty WILL be there, he had his hissy fit a few weeks ago.
