I am wondering about the number of vents that are in the side panels at the rear of splits. I have looked at a lot of pics and there seems to be a lot of different ways they are punched and the number of vents. On my 66 Kombi there are vents on each side as shown in pics but i have seen a lot with less and in different spots. Any thoughts.

You have got a change over year a couple of your vents will be blocked or paneled over on the inside, it must be an import as the vents are the Inwood ones, Aus buses vents go outwoods, it is OG though

Thanks Mike,
all of the vents are covered over on the inside of the bus. I thought somthing was strange with the vents. I will post the chassis number to see if it can be confirmed as an import. Ian |

G'Day, my memory is telling me that the vents on the upper section are an Australian thing due to our roads were quite dusty and bad, and too much dust was blocking the lower ones. Hope this helps.

The busses these vents were fitted to were the last of the Aussie made splits, VW were using left over German side panels with the lower vents already in them and stamping the high vents in, so you got both sets, I think the lower ones were blocked off.
