Smile Cruise to Reefton Hotel Feb 28

Who's up for a cruise? The Reefton Hotel is one of my favorite pubs in the Upper Yarra Valley, and as I haven't visited there in years I am proposing a cruise there for lunch &/or a cool ale on the 28th February 2010. It is a great pub, the only commercial building in McMahons Creek (yes, it was moved from Reefton), situated on the main road with a balcony and a view, so is a popular stop for bikers on their way to the heavily-cornered Reefton Spur. If it is a hot day, there are also some great swimming spots nearby.

The Reefton Hotel is located past Warburton, here:
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&s...z=12&iw loc=A

More details and trivia about the pub can be found here:
http://www.pbsfm.org.au/Documents.as...+Reefton+Hotel

So who's up for a cruise? As it would take about 90 minutes to get there from central Melbourne, I think a meet-up time of 9am [NOTE CHANGE OF TIME - see below for more details] may be best. I will suggest a tentative meet-up spot at Yarra Flats in Heidelberg, but am open to all suggestions.

Sounds like fun!

Maybe we should meet at Lillydale lake and avoid konvoying through the city.

Magic! Emily and myself will be up for this. Our first KC meet and greet.

Happy to meet at Yarra Flats as it's just around the corner from us.

Looking forward to meeting some fellow KC'ers,
Stevie & Em.

That's a shame Aime - we're organising the trip for this date as Alice has been granted a rare Sunday off so thought we'd make the best of it.

Stevie and Em - I look forward to meeting you both. I'll also bring some KC stickers along (if you don't have one already) .... I don't know yet if many others will accompany us, but Yarra Flats would be a convenient meeting place for us - but we'll also arrange a meetup at Lilydale Lake if eastern suburbanites indicate a desire to join us.

Ahh booo!

I can't make it, because me and a mate are tail-lining (is that the appropriate opposite of headlining) Feskyval, at the Abbotsford Convent to celebrate the last summer weekend.

www.feskyval.com

My mate's organising it as a fundraiser for Kids Under Cover.

Gonna be sweet acoustic sounds all arvo. Did I mention its BYO?

Red face

In my enthusiasm for this idea (and Alice having a rare Sunday off), I forgot to check my own calendar .... it turns out that I arranged to assist on a market stall that day - so is anyone interested in changing dates to the following day (March 1st, which Alice assures me is a public holiday) as I would prefer not to cancel my assistance (although it is very tempting!) ..... otherwise, we will go ahead with the cruise as planned.

I don't think the Monday is a holiday. Monday 8th is the Labour Day holiday.

Okay, there is a minor change of plans - the cruise is still on Feb 28, but as I have to be back in Brunswick by 3:30pm I am now proposing a 9am meetup in Heidelberg, with a subsequent meetup at Lilydale Lake at 9:50am .... we will then cruise to a pretty watering hole in McMahon's Creek, to be followed by lunch at the Reefton Hotel. I will have to depart at 2pm to return to town, but of course everyone else may stay if they're having fun (although are welcome to return to the Brunswick Music Festival if they'd rather) ....

There is a map here showing the two meetup points and destination:
http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?ie...7ee2a2237fb276

I look forward to meeting everyone on Sunday fortnight!

The Upper Yarra Dam is also just up the road from McMahon's Creek, which may make a nice sidetrip if anyone is keen.
