Default Steve Irwin Day @ Australia Zoo 15th Nov'08

Took Igor up for a kruize this morning to check out the KC crowd - forgot to ask who had the biggest hangover today.

Great turn out of members with Kombi's, Rackie and her sweet Bug + a few others I couldn't identify with. Damn humidity nad heat + lack of shade (thank god for Kombi rear doors) so the purified recylced water in a bottle handed out by the QLD Gov't people was much appreciated and tased PDG.

Know how you all love pics well camera stayed in the pocket APU as tooo many shutter bugs up there and no doubt Brett, Julian & Mish will upload plenty for you.

Plenty of freebies handed out by Battery World, Visy, Qld Gov't - Rotary put on a free Breakie BBQ which was great.

Talking First pics

Well some of the local Sunshine Coast crew arrived early before the convoy from the Big 4 Park at Forest Glen came down. Rumour has that there were a few sore heads but all the Sunshine Coast crew could do was to imagine a metre of swell ....... and we were missing it! ......

Jonno was there with Myrtle with his stand-up paddle board on the internal surf rack we all have here on the coast.

Mark JC was there with his son from Brisbane. His bus is shown here with Toni J, Jonno and the G'ster.

Randal/kombiboys was there with Bill and Gordie with his board inside. Here is Gordie posing for a pic handing out of Bee.

But then they let this mongrel dog, Wilfred in to the event ..............obviously no standards at all! .............. as well as no boards as they are all on the racks in the garage at home!

Default What the day was all about!

This is what the day is all about.............

The sign for Steve Irwin Day.

The sign explaining to the public why the KC were there in attendance.

Here are some of the kombis lined up.

Here is another view.....

So glad I'm not the only one with a warped sence of humour !

I'm sooo envious of all you guys that went to this day ! Of all the meets the Steve Irwin Day was the one I most wanted to support, unfortunately we couldn't make it as Juz is due to have our bub. I was very lucky to have mwt the Steve, Wes and his crew when I lived in the Gulf of Carpentaria N.T he was such a genuine bloke and had most passion about our wildlife.....I'll admit it I was gutted by his early departure.

I hope his legacy continues on for the younger generations to learn the importance of preserving our wildlife and their habitats.....just my 2cents worth

Well done to all who attended this important day

I wish I was there! I am the partner of Chris who owns Rocky! I am currently sitting at anchor on a supply boat in Dampier, WA.....awaiting more photos. Please anyone post more photos. As usual i was meant to be there but work always seems to get in the way of great plans! It better not for Easter, otherwise I will have to QUIT!
Sounds like it was a great day.

Default Zambian Steve Irwin.....

Whilst walking around the area look what we run into......

Zambia's own Steve Irwin clone........ except he has the typical African ethos ......."You kill it...... I'll grill it!"...............

Damo and Bert in conversation..... with just a few kombis in the background.

With the Steve Irwin sign to Australia Zoo as the backdrop....

Some kombis as part of that line-up.
