Rocky has to come off the road again for a bit, poor bugger needs to be painted again, decided to keep travelling in the mean time so needed a new "home". This one will be perfect after a minor transformation in the coming weeks .....

Yes, well. I believe the story goes that the lovely family we bought (are buying sorry-deposit paid) it off bought it whilst it was still being restored- it wasn't painted or anything yet. I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that this had already "disappeared". The other modification is that the air scoops have been changed too.

It's a great Kombi despite not being original in all it's entirety...some people love modifications, personally for me, I would love to have the money to put original air scoops and front grill back on- but with Rocky's new paint job we can't afford to do that sort of stuff at the moment. Many people would say I am crazy to want to do that (such as my husband), but that's just me- I'm a sucker for originality.

Maybe Chris will let me talk him round after we take it half or all the way around oz. He says it drives like an absoloute dream and I remember seeing it at Humple Pie (Dubs by the Pup) so I am pretty excited about the new purchase that's for sure.

Forgot to say.....

Rocky's interior will be put into this one by Tim (Blue Cedars Furniture).....so we will still have a piece of Rocky with us, despite the fact that the interior was new- it still was "in" Rocky so to speak and made him a part of who he was. I am happy that we will have something to remind us everyday of Rocky and also that we haven't lost all of money and can re use the interior.

So this is what will go into the Purple People Eater.

Have grill[and panels ] and late bay vents if you want them Kate. grinder and self tappers shoould have it done in a couple of hours. Get Bargie on the job before you get home

the lowlight rear vents are still there, just have to find them under the weird scoops, grinder should do pretty well there.

I am pretty sure the air box and everything will still be on the front, just have to find the old hole and open it up again, not sure I could be bothered, might just put in flip out windows instead for the time being, although might be nice to get hold of a lowlight grill just in case.....

The grill is later but think the difference is length n rounding on corners. Prob could be adapted. Make a nice stainless mesh one??.

Should take 3 hours.1 to get pissed , 1 to Mask and 1/2 to spray. Another 1/2 to top up blood Al level
Do it at Glens and cover his camper with overspray

hmmmmm,
this is all very tempting........
The early grill is also slightly banana shaped, discovered this when trying to fit Rocky's grill to his new front, didnt go Has bothered me since, so would either make something completely custom and obviously different, or go back to the curvy lowlight one. custom might be fun though..

Does the technique get better if you do away with the "1 hour to mask" and make it the 2 hours getting pissed???? Same timeframe, better outcome???????
