Hi Dan

Here's all the info you need in picture form.
Pressures are for a microbus so will vary from those on a Kombi but tyre size is the same

The fatter tyres/rims have probably been chosen mostly for looks - there should be a number on the tyre sidewall eg 215 R14 that will tell you the width of the replacement.

The standard 14'' rims can have as large tyre as a 225/60/14 or as small as a 175/75/14

I always run larger tyres on the rear for traction reasons and also cos I think its looks cool.

Just a standard 185/14

Its almost the same rolling diameter as my wheels.

That's the only reason I was thinking
2 change them 2 all the same I'm just worried
if I get a flat on the back the tyre won't fit..

If you have a standard size spare then we know that its going to fit regardless.

If you are running smaller front tyres than rear, is it better to have the spare the same size as the bigger of the two?

Yeah it would be preferable, in saying that 95% of all punctures/flats occur on the left front wheel due to it being closest to pot holes, gutters, etc...

I think all that would happen, is that you would get to a tyre place & repair your flat

The benefit of running with all tryes the same, is that you get to rotate them all 'round your bus. Two different tyre sizes limits your rotation possibilities........I think.
Cheers, Mark

Its called strip and fits if you got different sizes from front to rear.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Check your diameter on this.

Re spare
Most important issue is circumference of tyre.
Needs to be close to same as other tyre on same 'axle' for driving[rear]wheels. Otherwise puts extra load on diff.
Think something like 3% no problem.[Not sure]
If running tyres with larger difference in height reduce speed to help diff and for safety as handling will be affected.
Different construction and pressures on same axle can affect handling and brakng so drive with care and correct asap
