Think I'll be waiting too!
Here's the gauges on the Notch. Sorry about the crap quality.
I got the Km calibration over the MPH also and go cross eyed trying to read it.
The chrome rim on the Euro Style Gauges adds that bit of subtle bling
Thursday 2nd March parcel arrived from Spain and part of what was delivered -
Today another parcel arrived -
I'm sure you addressed those parcels to Peterborough SA Bert!
Hurry up and open it !!!!!!!!!!!
Suspense done Bert! We're waiting!
Other item from Spain
This is the style of speedo that Aussie Type3's should have got but as local content rules changed in 1972 VW got VDO to build the MPH speedo in Australia so a black rim not chrome and flat face in lieu of dished.
As for the contents of yesterday's box, opened and contents checked to order & will take picture today - nothing exciting to some but all parts functional and a necessity
Ok so here we go:
Aftermath of replacing the seat adjuster cams was that the seat runner guides were knackered but working so bit the bullet and ordered them .... seats should slide nice and freely now once installed and a bit of moly grease -
Rear Tail Light Seals are hard and brittle so new set also - mmmmm nice & soft & flexible -
Pedal rubbers also iffy so a set of VW Brasil ones, then while I managed to get a fan shroud timing hole plug from Grumble ISPWest had new ones so bit bullet for it also & as the steering column didn't have a lock clip got a good 2nd hand one as well -
Deciding on whether to swap these out asap or wait for the items from Germany and Netherlands to arrive then entertain a 79 yo friend who is by himself and loves playing with old cars ...... think it'll be the latter option to give him something different to do
Another parcel delivery today via PostNL ...... what a shame DHL aren't as efficient with parcels from Germany ...... all items sent via postal system took 10 days or less ...... know what DHL is an acronym for
Contents - european styled Type3 clock from 1972
Last piece in the puzzle has finally arrived from Germany ...... no idea of which void it fell into and came out of 21st Feb to 16th March
Was it ticking when it went though customs?
Not the missing piece Nils maybe more of a clicking noise and flashing
As per previous post final piece of the puzzle arrived Thursday finally via Deutsche Post (DHL air express) - 1st item ordered and posted and last to arrive
I have discovered that if you call auspost they can track dhl parcels once they hit Aus. I managed to track my springs from Germany through 7 depots over there online then phoned auspost a day after they hit Sydney and they tracked it from there for me
Lesson learnt Chris ...... last post by DHL (Deutsche Port) was Rodergau on way to destination country ..... I expected @ least arrived in country of destination ...... dumb to not ask the question DHL all the way like TAA but found out it was via Post when it arrived..... irrespective gave feedback to DHL with tracking number their system sucked as no update after 22nd Feb.
At least it made it...in one piece...and so now the waiting for the post anxiety will go away.....till next time lol
Yeah Chris, at least it arrived - those fuel gauges are very hard to find ..... the bulb holder on the back are out there and with a bit of good luck it'll all work when installed but if not the backup is I found a place with NOS Classic VW parts and they have this gauge so will just have to suck it up and spend some $$$ for a 2nd
Spoke to Ross @ Mick Motors and ordered 2 x 111 957 397 A + 9 x N177 222 + 1 x 111 115 487 .
Sent of enquiry for some Original Rocker Moulding Clips 311 853 587 B - NOS in VW Box 20 Stuck as found the replicated steel ones flex too much when trim is attached and followed on with EoI to a parts seller before I buy -
Finally installed the German VDO Instruments/Gauges after some wiring issues with the Australian Made TYpe3 having these wired differently.
All 3 work great and worth the expense and effort to change them over.
KM SPeedo with Trip Meter, Clock & Fuel Gauge which now has the indicators working seperately to each other for R & L Turns
