While doing the Gauges also replaced the Headlight Switch as dashboard dimmer wasn't working ...... story in itself getting the correct 8 terminal switch  ...... ah to have illuminated gauges again - well except for clock which we now realise was wired to a completely different circuit when car restored so have to remove speedo and clock and loop/piggy back the power to the clock light then we'll see where the wires for the bulb go

Ordered and Paid for Original Rocker Moulding Clips 311 853 587 B - NOS in VW Box 20 Stuck x 2 - then get email "Is it ok if we ship in 3 weeks as we are on holidays" ... reply NO but I have no control over when you send and would not have paid you until your return if you had told me in Saturday's email so thank you for advising there will be a 3 week delay in posting

When you started talking about changing your gauges. With the first photos I really didn't know what all the fuse was about. Once I seen your latest photos before and after I can really see the difference know, what a difference it is, It worth the hassle to source the parts for the change over, you got to be happy with that.Looks a lot better .:)

    Thanks Wayne.

Others didn't know what the fuss was about also but as you now see it is a cleaner & smarter look. Took some time to convince myself it was the way to go but after seeing some pictures of a '72 with German gauges took the plunge & gambled they all worked which they do :D. KM speedo makes reading the speed a lot easier ;)

    Cheers & beers

Drive the MPH as Km and tell the officer it can't possibly go that quick, it's only a VW! :p;)

Terry, the MPH with KM overlay did my head in ..... yes it was original, ugly and spot on speed wise BUT hard on the eyes.
Got to see if I can fix the tripmeter on it as looks like its dropped a cog then think I'll try to sell them.

    Hey Bert
Picked this up today for a bit of a read.
    IMAG3961 (612x1024).jpg
It seems to be one of those great little history/reference books that explains some of the differences between the models, the variations on this and some of the reasons for the variations. You have probably already seen it, but if not I recommend it for a bit of a look.

I am amazed at how many differences there actually are with the Type 3's.

    Cheers
    Euan
