Yeah. I'll probably just get Dave to trim the back cards and put them on the same as the front. I agree this will probably look the best. I'll probably first have to get someone to order some vinyl in from TMI though, as I'm not sure anyone here has any left in stock (unless someone has got some in since last time I was looking for it). It also takes ages to get in from what I have heard, so getting this sorted is going to be a post-rego / next year thing. I'll try and get my act together and do a bit of ringing around next week to see if anyone locally has some though. I might be lucky.

Re: Other progress - My DC is currently at the trimmers having the new ceiling lining put in. Should be back some time next week hopefully and then it's all systems go to put it back together. Would be good to get it on the road for Christmas / New Year, but I can't see that happening. I don't want the last bit rushed just for some arbitrary date.

Actually, I'll just be happy with a stress/argument free Christmas day.

Give me something nice to eat, something nice to drink and I'm good.

Yep!!! I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms waiting to get my DC on the road. So much so, I was even trying to make one out of my son's Lego over Christmas.

Bit of a fail, but it hasn't stopped me pushing it around the lounge room floor making dak dak dak dak dak dak and vroom vroom vroom vroom noises.
My wife and son both think I have lost it.

Now seriously that is a great attempt;). More T3 than T2 but a 'red hot go' anyway:D. Bit hard to get curved T2 from square blocks!
Your young boy will only know Dak Dak:D (an excellent thing). Bit different from the growl of a V8:p.
    Cheers/Happy New Year/ When? coming home:cool:.

Still no firm date for bringing my DC home. I am learning finishing a Kombi resto is a bit like buying a Kombi in the first place. i.e. Like the right Kombi will find you, the Kombi resto will be finished when it's finished.

P.S. Just for the record ... "Never ever again" does not exclude me from the right to do the whole thing again with a different VW, should my insanity prevail and I somehow find the means. I'd love to get a Panel Van, Camper, Squareback, Fastback, or even a Thing. I just can't see it happening in this life at the moment.

True VW enthusiasts are hard to meet. Most are not allowed out without 'security' (partners) to ensure they don't randomly open their wallets:p:D to purchase .

    Cheers

We have a bit more progress.
The new wiring harness is pretty much in. The dash is in place and the ceiling lining is also in. The wheels are painted and my new tyres are on (though my whitewalls are looking brown at the moment, but they should come up white again with a good scrubbing). The fuel tank is also in.

    Getting there!

Not sure if they were totally sane purchases. But what the heck!
