Its an early start David.
I'm out but may you all have a great day.
Arrived last year at about 7:00am from memory. I couldn’t keep up with the VW convoy though as Harry’s motor was getting a bit too hot. Shouldn’t be a problem this year
Only quoted what the promoters said...........
Even earlier start for me ...... but I’ll make the effort.
I'm coming down in my gay window bus this year. Giving the T3's a rest this year.
Early start is a must.
So is that pub
Bloody slow trip then
Worth pointing out, that it’s an all day show, and there is ample free parking outside the gates, for anyone to arrive at anytime, pay the entry admission and wander around at leisure., to then leave whenever they want to.
That is how I visited my first Nationals, deleting the very early start to the day.
....and there are a LOT of buses/VW's worthy of a look in the general carpark area too !
Tends to be where the non show-ponies congregate.
You also don't have to wait 45 minutes to get inside while knob heads complete their forms
A link to download and print out an entry form, to fill in before arrival would reduce the entry queue.....
Is there such a link?
The thing is, if I take the '71, I'm not going to have a 5 o'clock start, drive for nearly 3 hours and then park in the general car park. I'll queue up with the knob heads and show ponies thanks.
The first nationals I went to was the inaugural at Hawkesbury Ag College. Vast open spaces with freedom to move, accomodation and a 2 day event. A much better venue (although I note it rained a fair bit)
There are two entry points and if they were organised better they would have an entry for those that had filled out the forms and an entry for those that haven't but they don't so you still have to wait ages even if you have filled it in
To be honest, pre filling made no difference. They were handing out forms way back in the queue last time (got a free pen as well). It was the paying on entry that really held things up. Mind you I got to talk to lots of different people while queuing.
I think I'll take the '71 down. It has new heater boxes. I might not partially freeze to death in it this time. Or I could come down later in the Discovery or the Audi A3 Quattro 'vert but where is the fun in that!
I agree, but still can’t understand why it takes so long to simply pay the entry fee.......
i'll be up there from SA
Around 3pm, I asked an official at the Nats last year how come there was no engine blow "highlight"? He said there's not been one in years.
I asked well how come then it remains listed on the the clubs website Nats program every year since? He said he didn't know it was. I said well that just goes to show how slack the organisers must be, they don't bother editing their own website's Nats promotional program.
