AT LAST ALL THE WELDING IS FINISHED

I have just welded the seat belt anchors in the B pillars, took half an hour each side, easy job, no coach bolts from the outside and smooth as inside.

That going to look the part, must be a bit of a quandary fitting the creative irs, I'm not sure I could, but you never know.
Dave, does your van have holes on the engine vents for deluxe trim? I've just picked up a complete 63 13 and there's no holes on the vents for the trim, although deluxe's with the "outie" vents were fitted with them.

Fitted the IRS as I wanted to drive it in todays traffic.
The vent trim was never fitted to Aussie deluxe 13's, everything else was lke the bumper trim, waistline and lower sill trim.
What year is yours, should be 64 if its a 13, if so does it have icepick door handles and how many vents.

    Hi Dave

I've thought of IRS, but have got swingaxle on my 57 and don't mind it too much, just very low.
I dated it at around sept\oct 63, so a 64 model. It does have ice picks, it has 8 vents. Are you replacing the headliner? I'm going to go for new interior panels from TMI and wondering what they're headliners are like.

Yep, got a complete interior from TMI, ace quality, headliner looks good, only problem is aussie headliners were the only ones in the world installed by using a wooden edge around the whole top of the straight sides, not sure how the TMI one is going to fit??

Sorry I havent updated this recently but I have been very busy trying to source engine bits from the states and with the state of the dollar its suprising that its still a hell of a lot cheaper to bring it in yourself.

Anyway I had a free day today so I managed to really finish off the welding, just finished welding in the safari brackets and pluging the two holes in the window divider where you have to slide in the hinge support plates..

and also did the rear shocker mounts.
If you fit an IRS the top shocker mount doesnt line up with the new lower mount on the IRS hub, so to do the job properly you have to fit new top mounts.
Heres what it looked like to start with.

and here it is after cutting the body slightly to get the mount in the right spot

and finally the mount in place

I also finished my narrowed beam, all new everything, ball joints, tie rods ( which I had to cut down) new centre pin, just waiting for the new seals for the torsion arms, couldnt get any in Australia so had to get Roy to bring some in from the Uk

Now to get it on its side and clean underneath and hit it with some rust bullet and top coat.

Wish I had bought that grey bus you did years ago now. With that sort of commitment, it would have been an excellent investment/ride.

    Sensational work Dave.

    Thanks
I wish I could have kept it.
The problem is you have to do the next one better than the last???

Funny thing is I found the 13 deluxe before I got my 57, but the owner wouldnt sell it for 7 years, gave me time to think of how it was going to turn out and I am still on track.
Hopefully it will be ready for Easter.
