Hi all, here is my resto...

Prior to this stage I was working at home until February. Since then I have had the bus at Northside Autobody Repair in Berowra. I am paying for the space, some panel beating and some of the painting. I still hope to do most of the work left in the next two weeks.

I must give a big thank you to everyone at the shop. I have had the chance to watch some great work and the opportunity to put that into practice on my own car in their space!

The first stages of the job can be viewed here: http://forums.kombiclub.com/showthread.php?t=3360

In the 5 months since I have been through a semester at uni and just finished 5 weeks of prac teaching... I have only been able to do half days on Saturdays on the van but here is a bit of what I have done...

    Had the rust cut out:

Then cleaned I up the panel beater’s weld:

    Same with the windscreen:

Heaps of sanding!!! I will be doing another high-fill coat before colour.

While waiting between coats I have cleaned and primed some of the ‘cameo’ parts.

Progress!!! Keeping the ball rolling here...

    Thanks Alex!

    Really moving forward now.

I have gone over the work Luis and I did earlier and fussed about with a few highs and lows... As others have said before you could work on the panels forever getting them straight!

Old hail damage... I didn’t notice ‘till I took the old house paint off the roof!

Traded the Commodore on a Hyundai for my wife and sold the old Corolla. It's Janie or nothing for me now. :) Drove her to Cattai just for the hell of it today. Easier on the shoulder than the Hyundai! :)

After finishing colour on the inside I finished prep around the outside... I have realised as I progress and my skills develop I would have changed ‘this’ or done ‘that’ differently but it’s all part of the process so I guess I will have to do another one someday just to go at my own pace and style.

That said I really appreciate the help and enthusiasm the boys at the shop have shown to help me get to where I am!

... Roof first... Thanks to Aaron for waving the wand in the booth!

Hard to get the colour to show up right under the fluro lights... It’s not green!

A few more hours sanding and a touch of soft nikki for some fine details and the rest was ready in the booth for the blue...
