Haha WRX engine would probably be faster than what's in there... wouldn't have that sound though.
Now to keep the thread on track... .or from wandering.... the Porker did come with a replacement set of tie rod ends.
let the fun begin.... again! :)

Tatra 8 cyl air cooled in the 40's. Watched a Check movie this week and there were a few featured. Black with a shark fin. Awesome!

@Chidori , did you ever get that wheel alignment? Did it make any difference? I find my bus un-drivable right now as it seems to veer all over the road. :(

if it's a steering box issue I can help
But make sure it is (I haven't read the whole thread)
Check your angles and joint wear.
I can recon your steering box.

Thanks mate - you actually already did recon my steering box. So that's not the problem. :)

Finally managed to get my bus out to suspension guru in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, that gets rave reviews on forums and google.
I've given him a list of problems i have with the steering, along with a list of what's been replaced (pretty much everything!)
Hopefully he can spot the missing link that myself and others haven't been able to locate!

He had a few amazing cars there - including a 356 and a 911 race car. Kombi looked a little out of place there! So, i'm sure we should be in good hands.

    Nope - not a 2.7.
    It's a 3.0.
Actually found a broken head stud and have since rebuilt the entire short block... working on the rest this weekend. ;)

I have just discovered the existence of 'sway bars' - I think I might give these a try. Maybe then I won't make involuntary lane changes when a truck passes by from the other direction.

Sway bars should be used to improve handling - not provide stock performance

I know it’s a long road but you should find the cause of your problem
