    Hi KCers,

I've just embarked on the rite of passage in Kombi ownership that is having a child and opening up the Pandora's box that is getting child restraints legally and safely installed.

To this end I have been to Pearce's Child restraints to get a quote on a C.R.A.B. installed and have been told (not surprisingly) that the rear seat/bed doesn't cut the mustard. It's a British made and delivered Dormobile camper, which despite being well engineered and tricky with a lot of other parts, the seat/bed is secured only to less than 10mm plywood backing, which is in turn screwed into the side of the cabin with a few tiny screws.

So as I've trolled the countless threads on the topic, I've realised the only light at the end of the tunnel is to get the ADR approved RnR bed from Kustom Kombi.

As they are up in Queensland, I was hoping there might be one installed in someones Kombi a bit closer to home that I could check out, take a few measurements and see the quality etc. So if there's anyone in Sydney, preferably Northern Beaches-ish, that doesn't mind me having a stickybeak, please let me know.

Also, anyone not in Sydney that's got one, how does it go?

    Thanks,

    Matt.

Ditto, good bed and good service. I've a baby on the way so would be interested to hear how you go fitting the child restraint to the kustom kombi seat/bed.
    Keep us posted.

We have one also. Jamie was a bit difficult to get on the phone but bought it online and it was delivered in a few days. The installation was dead easy with really clear and concise instructions. Its also a full width seat/bed which means i can separate the kids a bit for long drives and my own sanity! My wife says it quite comfortatble as a bed as well. I havent managed to get a sleep in it yet.
Remember you still need to get it upholstered?
