    Hey folks,
Whenever i have needed to change my oil filter i have just ordered a bosch one off the internet. I have never really known how good it was so was thinking of what other types of filters people would recommend?
I am heading to yorkes on wednesday and need to do an oil change before then so dont have time to get one off the internet.

I also cant remember the code which is written on the filter which suits and cant really check my filter as it is currently being used. If someone would be able to remind me that would be great as well so I can get one from the auto shop tomorrow.

    Thanks
    Lochie

Genuine VW from a dealer is best.
Next choice is Mann or other German OEM brands.
Do not use generic filters from Australian parts retailers, (Repco, Bursons, Supercheap etc) as they do not sell Kombi specific filters.

You can use aftermarket - They do fit and are fine if you know what to ask for as the parts stores will struggle
Ryco Z100 is the actual correct part number through Repco etc I ran them on mine for ages with no issues at all as no doubt many others have also.
My VW Specialist had no issues with them either.

Genuine still avail at some VW dealerships (like mine) 021 115 351 a is part number others can order rrp $32

Just Kampers do a Bosch one that is fine too $19-20ish from memory

Thanks for the reply Dubman. The bosch ones off just kampers have been the ones I have been putting in but due to lack of time I cant order it in this time round. I might go try chase down one of the VW ones and if i cant find it today il check out repco and try get one from there.

    Thanks again

Check this sticky thread out helps with the "Generic" Parts stores
    http://forums.kombiclub.com/showthread.php?30614-Service-Parts-made-easy-for-parts-stores

Most won't have a Z100 on the shelf and will most probably need to order.

I can tell you looking on our dealership part locator none of the Adelaide dealers have the genuine 021 115 351 a in stock however they can order from VW as they have them avail from their Sydney w/house 2-3days tops.

In Adelaide, you'll have more luck finding a z100... Why don't you just head down to Volksfactory or Volkscare for one? Not far away and a no brainer! :)

Thats a good link Dubman! definatly useful as sometimes ordering parts off the internet when you need them right away can be a pain.
Thats what i ended up doing Andrew. Couldnt be bothered driving there but did in the end and picked up a genuine filter.

Aren't the Z100 made to fit Corollas?

What pressure are the valves set at? For Corolla or Kombi?

    Hi Lochie
i also buy my service parts on the internet and when ordering things like oil filters i buy 2or 3 at a time that way you can do the job anytime without having to wait for parts to arrive also makes the postage charges better value

    Hey Rob,
Yeah thats good advise.I should be doing that, i make the mistake every time i order parts off the internet being stingy at the time thinking il just get it later and then end up paying $11 postage for a part worth $10

Z386, Z158, Z68 for corollas from the last 30 years.....

Never EVER had a Z100 in the workshop...Toytoas don't take them and I refused to work on VW's.

We were using Z100's in Kombis 30 years ago, much more common then. My favourite filter is the MANN 920/17
