This was in September 1977 when my Mum and Dad received the keys to their brand new Microbus Deluxe at the school Fete.
Shown in picture is Brother Angus from Patrician Brothers' College Fairfield handing the keys to my mum.
The VW was the first prize in a Car Club Raffle.
Six months later I bought this bus which became my first car that I kept for nearly 18 years.

Brilliant story Mark! So this is where your fondness of Kombi's began?

Agree Bagman about the old school fetes too. My Mum used to create all sorts of things for the kids stall which included faires on a stick. I'm not sure the excess glitter around the house impressed Dad much though.:D;)

That probably cemented my love for Kombi's, however this is my brother Andrew and myself camping at Durras Lakes with the family in about 1969.

    Awesome winning prize!;)

Wife keeps shopping to enter a prize to win an Amarok. Why? To sell it and make a down payment on the VW or Audi she really wants! :D

It's coming....... I think the "Win an Amarok"competition, is just an excuse to keep shopping to spend the minimum required per entry. ;)

The Bus was bought by a guy who worked at the Kirra Surf Shop up at the Gold Coast.
He was keeping it to hand down to his Son.
I was told that it has since been sprayed but not in the original red.
Here is a picture I took when I last saw it some time ago in maybe 2002, and below when I had it in about 1987.
