Hi, can anyone help me with info on replacing the centre boss in my front beam of my 75 kombi, is it possible?? It has lowering adjusters on it and the thread in the boss has been completely stripped. I also had a broken spring plate. Cheers

How about a bare beam, just fit your goodies to it?

I do have another beam and had planned to take out the boss and insert in this one but it's looking more likely that it can't happen. New beam would mean new adjusters would need to be welded on and i have just renewed the steering pin bits in the existing one. It's been suggested to just tap a larger thread into the boss and use a larger bolt which at the moment might be the easiest option.

Use the replacement beam and put drop spindles on.

Works great for me - nice ride and looks better than stock height - mine is an early bay but i am sure there are dropped spindles for late bays - much better ride than the adjuster style.

Can't you just replace the threaded bolt, it is just screwed into the cam,

Although it is hardened, redoing the thread could be a bit of a problem
