Want to take the family away in the camper. Has anyone put a child seat on the front passenger seat or on the rock n roll bed (if even legal)?

As you have a full width back seat, you can have a CRAB bar fitted easily up high that you can bolt the child seat to - do a search up in the top right corner of "crab bar".

That way the child seat can be removed quickly and the bed laid down.

If your seat has been comlianced recently it should have a firm enough foam and the top of seat back is firm enough that it doesn't compress, if steel frame then seat will be fine.
Some certifiers will also accept the straight back to engine bay rear edge installation.
There is an area big enough to plate for bolt just inside the rear door on floor above engine of Kombi that doesn't foul fràming sections or engine hatch.

Seat is around 10 years old from kustom kombi. Do you have any examples of the other installation methods?

    That seat will pass.
The two methods mentioned are like the only options for a Kombi.

Others are belt attached to lower of rear of seat but only applies to seats designed for such.
Or rear parcel shelf which Kombi doesn't have.

Google Qld regulations on fitting child seat restraints.

Didn't realise it had this. Surely that's an anchor point?

It is but isn't an option listed in regulations.
Which is silly as I have seen specs for seat mounted that are similar configuration for belt coming over the top of seat.
There are requisite angles for top belt and this wasn't included.

Sort of makes sense - no horizontal restraint I suppose.
