    Hi All,

We had an awesome time over Christmas with our adventure up to Crescent Head staying at the caravan park there with sensational weather for the whole 10 days.

Whilst there we caught up with some syncro mates and did the Plommer track all the way from Crescent to Port which is an old mining track that is now so overgrown it is down to barely 1 vehicle width in places. Lots of big craters that fill with water and a few long soft sand patches plus loads of pot holes and corrugations.

Most of the southern half of the track it is second gear driving. The northern half is well graded and is very easy even for a low 2wd as that part of the road is access to a few coastal camping areas.

    Heres a few photos:

Down the end of the Plommer Rd - we had more video of the fun parts but it is hard to see as it was pretty rough (wife couldnt keep her hand still):

Hey Scott, we gave the track ago last year but I bottled it when I came to a large puddle! Would love to give it another go with some Syncro back-up, you doing it again? Jimmy

    Jimmy,

You could have got through that puddle.

Those craters are large though. Last year we went through it was just after heaps of rain and the craters were all full of water like that. Some idiot in a landcruiser 80 series went in so fast he ripped off his number plate and stalled then couldnt start it.

We dragged him out of the way and the puddle and everyone just left him and his brain to dry out.

Not planning another trip in that area till around this time next year. Next big trip is to Murray River Country to Swan Hill - maybe some 4wd action around there???

    Cheers,

With my history of getting bogged there was no way I was going to take any chances especially with only Angela to push me out. She waited until I got in the middle then said 'wonder if you get snakes around here.'

Cool. The old man used to chuck me and my brother in the van and we would spend the whole day surfing the north shore up the plumber road to point plumber, then to cresent head and back down the highway to port mac.

    Great memories.

    Thanks for posting the pics.

Cool stretch of the mid-north coast.... Road north of Plomer is always graded prior to school hols., south of there is anyone's guess & you just have to go & check it out as you did. Some great camp sites along there & waves to match. looks like an awesome trip. Cheers, Mark

Not sure if youre referring to the bloke with the zebra boardies or the bloke with his arse half hanging out of his black shorts but I dont know either. Just the two cute girls are mine.

I'm worried about that giant seagull that's about to pluck an unsuspecting swimmer out of the surf..........:wtf:

The road is definately lots of fun when you are confident with your vehicle. I was having a few throttle body issues before it after finding my return spring was weak and my mechanic had wound the air mixture screw right in to lower the idle.

Kind of fixed it with a new spring and a piece of coat hanger wire but I thing I have some dirt in there somewhere - as after all the corrugations on the way back up the Maria River Road he ran a bit wierd until a few kms of good tar road and all good again.

I think I need a new air filter.

We prefer to time it for the low tide and take the beach from the North Shore to Plommer...............much smoother ride than the "Back Track"

I would agree with both of the above statements.

The beach is smoother and fun but that track when wet is a pretty good test of your snorkel as those craters hold a lot of water.

My last trip there was a novice 4wder in a fairly new landcruiser that went through a bog hole so fast he ripped his front bumper off and killed his engine. Coming past him stuck half out in a mess was very amusing
