I bought this 69 microbus off a mate of mine who had all the rust cut out,new paint and the interior partially restored at a local kombi resto shop 4 years ago.
It was involved in a 5 car pile up on the f3 freeway on the queens birthday weekend coming back from sydney about 2 years ago.
Shannons gave him a huge payout and as i helped him retrim the interior of the car he sold the wreck to me.
It wasnt a writeoff an was repairable and just had some front end damage ,
The chassis was only slightly pushed up on the passenegers side about 1cm but the front looked a little ugly.
i was going to part the bus out and use it in my splitty resto at first .
We pulled the engine and gear box an rear end out and fitted it to a 70 panel van and drove it round the block a few time.
awaiting time to do the body work on it.
Not long after a mate of mine introduced me to a bloke called Kel who,s an old school panel beater an works on 4wd rollovers. I asked him to have a look at the kombi to see how bad it was. He said its an easy fix an he can do it in 3 days if i supplied the new panels.
Luckily i got a good tax return back just then and could afford to fix it so we loaded it up on the trailor and took over to the panel shop.
So heres the pics of it after the crash at the panel beaters awaiting the accessors.

The original 1500 engine was stripped down and degreased.(note the old school external oil cooler)
pat couldnt just put the engine back in dirty looking,so he sanded and striped them all down before painting in heatproof enamel paint.

All the tinware cleaned and repainted.
the extra oil filter is a bit different. Its made by a company called Frantz here in australia.
The filter is toilet rolls inside which you can change over when you do your oil change.
ill attach a link to there site if you are interested in this.....
