Scored a no charge pressure test at my local radiator joint. Just gotta give a days notice. Looking like Monday is the day I find out. Let you know if there is any leak damage then
Will keep at it in meantime but can't pass that offer up. Keen to know what's up!

    O.k the results are.....

    There are none as yet!
Gone and fitted the thermostat, all sweet. While the hatch was up I though I would have a look at the rotor arm. Opened the distro cap, well... looks pretty thrashed. So I go to remove it and it wont budge. I go off to get some plumbers grips as it was being stubborn.
I get back apply the grips and give it a lift and it eploded into 3 pieces.
I ain't going nowhere till I find a rotor arm.
Looking around online I noticed this stuff being spoken about...
FOR MODELS WITHOUT A REV LIMITER
    NOT FOR 2.1 MV,SR AND SS.ENGINES

Whats the deal with this in respect to rotor arms and fitting?

Cheers and hope ya get a chuckle out of my repair antics!

    I know, I know...
While I wait for shipping it will be 2days.
Need a days notice for the pressure test but can't be done fridays so...
Looks like another week off road and loss of rego.
Not keen to drive incase of causing more damage.
If lucky I might get it in Thursday arvo.
Sucks having to spend a bit of cash to find out your probably going to need more cash.

What other models of car have this? I think early T4 use the same rotor, as well as alfa romeo gtv, and golf I think too.
Have to go salvage parts for another car at u-pull-it, might lookout up there for a second hand rotor just to test the thermo and get things moving if it saves me a couple of days. Just a thought as I'm getting impatient.
Mucked around for nearly a week on the thermo already.
    Cheers.

Don't you have Volkswagen dealers in Adelaide?

They fit a lot of VWs/Audis/Skodas/Seats and they probably have them in stock.

Can get locally but still 2days wait and 35-50 Bucks.
I am comming up near $100 already and the pressure test is free.

If the Engines buggared this is wasted cash but already feeling backed into a corner and having to pay my way out already. Guess its just part of the situation.
Call me a cheapskate, but battling with myself to enjoy this situation and get to the source.
Maybe worse as I am in S.A and people just don't stock stuff for this van. T3 is very rare in S.A.
Meh, I should probably shut up and be more patient and persistant, see how I feel after breakfast and a farmers union. Ha!

You need to deal with Volkswagen people.

Stay away from Repco, Bursons etc.

Unfortunatly I have been through nearly all. Not much difference really.
J.K is about $22 odd but waiting for the shipping is the pain.
So keen to get this underway and on schedule while the rego rots away.
Be great if all this brings it back to normal, but highly doubt it to be honest.
Certain there is a bill of a few hundered comming along. Hopefully it's just a gasket and not broken metal.
Also... for the record..... I did note there was an O-Ring in the last half of the thermo left in. So can possibly wipe out a couple of theorys stated in here in regards to that.
Guess the rotor could be the main starting problem after all. Not getting far without it. May not have been making decent contact with the cap.
Guess changing the rotor is a once every 12month thing. What is the actual Km changeover on this out of curiosity? How many km before change?
On the brighter side... if it aint moving it's not costing me in fuel....

    O.k

Chilled out a bit and left the van sitting whilst I wait for a rotor to come in. No longer concerned with timeframe to get it looked at.
Not rushing it as I ordered from overseas delivered for just over $10 from the u.k.
Jumped back on here to inform you lot of a sellsr on ebay.
His ebay store is called The T25 shop I think (will confirm unless someone beats me to it).
Have a look. Fair variety of parts. Maybe not stocking everything but should be useful for some of you lot.
Shippings good price and reasonable for the timeframe considering.
No doubt some of you know about this already....

    Yep - http://stores.ebay.com.au/thet25partsshop?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

and also while I looked about, did find this one in Ireland....

    http://stores.ebay.com.au/thet25partsshop?_trksid=p2047675.l2563

The Irish store please note - search vw transporter 2.1 - not t3 or t25 and you seem to get somewhere with the search engine.

Try the same in ebay. the different arrangements of keywords take you off to places you never been before since we sometimes give it too much info and it gets more specific with the search results.

Not concerned with the amount of KM I get out of the rotor, if the engine is kapputt then don't worry about the rotor making 100,000km instead of 200,000 if the engine wont be able to put a km through it at all.
I recon your just throwing money at it for no reason then. I'm gonna sit on this one for a while just in case until I source the problem.
Be good if the rotor is the only issue. Could be.... soon find out.
Most of you already know about search engines, for those that don't - They were a specialised rally motor designed for syncros, Hi tourque and bullet proof aye fellaz! :) ROFL!
It is also now obvious I have a little time on my hands to kind of hack my way keyword by keyword through ebay and find the little corners of the internet with mispelt listings, missing keywords e.c.t.
Good way to snap up a bargain!

Should mention I know the internet has corners, but don't ask me what shape it is or how many sides it has.
Someone should draw a picture of the internet.....
