Door hinges

    Just a quick question here, what other year models of bay window kombi have the same door hinges as a 1979 kombi??

    I believe they changed in 76 some time. My 77 bolts on differently to the 76 that I had. When facing foward with the door open the part attached to the door sits behind the bracket of the door pillar and uses hex bolts.
    The 76 bolted on in front (nearest side to you) and used alan key head bolts. Hope this helps

    You can use '77, '78, or '79 doors on your '79.

    They used the countersunk recessed-hex bolts up until and inclusive of the 1976 year model, then changed to the far less troublesome regular hex-head bolts in 1977. :) The hinges differ beteeen the two types sufficiently to make them non-interchangable for all intensive purposes.

    Fitted a 75 to my 79 but only with a few mods. It can be done but not a bolt on.
