;):) 3 years ago today I purchased Elsie. Below is the before and after photos. Plenty of hard work and many $$$$$$$ later she is finished and we’re having a ball.
I will try and upload the process, strip down and rebuild with photos over the next few weeks. Craig

Wow! looks great! Is the new paint the same colour as the old? Or more a wattle yellow type colour?

Hi Slobus, the colour is correct. Wattle CLR719. When I took the pop top off the original colour was underneath so I polished it up and matched the colour to the original. Being an old spray painter I wanted to make sure the colour was exact when I repainted it. :)

Thanks Barry, yeah, when I worked in the trade back in the ‘70s we put pinstripes on everything.

One of my first cars was a Mk1 Esky panel van with stripes :D

If/when/watch this space I get an old skool T2 kombi rat type I want to find some one to do some hand done pin striping

    Great result! :)

And yes, it’s interesting how everyone gets used to the faded colour as being the original, and forget what they looked like new. ;)

Seen it in Bays, and T3’s painted fresh with the original colour.

I've seen it in person many times & it's true to original colour.
Great job Craig;). You'll forget about the $ when Kombi joy pays the bill forever and a day:):D. Bet your journey to Stanthorpe BS 2018 & Old Bar 2018 may have put down a Kombi joy deposit;).
New motor, new paint, new b*oody everything & done so well. Congratulations.
Folks..... Craig even has matching outdoor chairs to his pop top canvas. He can join the OCD owners club:oops:. Nice to see your updated avatar:cool:.
    Cheers

    Hi Barry,
The guy who do did my stripes still does old school lines and scrolls with a dagger liner. I can recommend him.

    Wow,

Nice job - although in the photo it looked pretty good to me even pre-resto.

I too love the stripes. :D

I purchased Elsie because she had a good solid body and was a good base for restoration. :)
