Hi there I'm new to this and am wondering if anyone here is in Perth, WA? We've just bought our first VW T2 Kombi after drooling for years over them, but 'Bryan' needs a total respray inside and out and a fit out to include bed, sink, cooker, fridge, table etc and I'm wondering if anyone knows of anyone in Perth that does fitouts or resprays? Vicki

Welcome...... but as you admit "you are new to this", can I suggest you start a thread in the "new members" section, to introduce yourself, so others can welcome you to KC?

The "Announcements " forum is mainly for Kombi Club messages and changes, from the Admin / Moderator team. ;)

Personally dont worry about the paint. make sure mechanically it is all good. Have you done some shake down runs. How handy are you?

    G'day and welcome

As Beerboy asked, how are the mechanicals?

is you van a poptop or tin top?

    What is the rust like

In my opinion the order of restoration is
    1. mechanicals
    2. rust repairs
    3. paint
    4. interior
    5. re-mortgage house

Hopefully some local members will contact with local experiences .
Be careful choosing someone to do the job as its a cash cow for quite a few dodgy operators.
Getting a mix of actual experiences helps. Not just referrals based on hearsay about whoever is flavour of the month.
Normal advice from many from the west is meet up with local enthusiasts at Alfreds for a gasbag.

Good luck. Tread carefully and keep a close eye on the work and budget.
