Just read the Speed Cafe update - sounds like a great drive from Dan R to win Monaco with power issues

Will Power became 1st Aussie to win the Indiannapolis 500 :)

Looks like Red Bull have made good progress over the winter in the task to catch up to Mercedes for 2021.

Great to see a battle at the front for a change, after all the years of the Mercs just disappearing into the distance, leaving any track battles to the rest of the field.

Lewis Hamilton takes pole position for tomorrow’s Spanish GP.

That makes 100 pole positions for his F1 career. No one else has ever got close to that.

Never been a die hard Hamilton or Team Mercedes fan, but full credit to him and the team, for the outstanding results. (Was only briefly a Hamilton supporter when he drove for another team.)

Hamilton got his 100th pole, the same weekend Verstappen starts his 100th race.

if you took Hamilton out of his car and swaped him and there cars with Ricardos car would he still win?
We no he,s a great driver but mercedes have had an advantage when they change over to this new engine style as they have been running them in other cars for a while.
Love to see Dan win a world title but i feel if he does not have the opportunity to drive what the top few are in he,ll always be running in 6th place

Hamilton is the best driver in the best car, remember he's also beaten his team mate in every year except 2016 since 2014. He even had more wins than Rosberg in 2016 and would have won the championship again if his car didn't burst into flames in Malaysia

You could have asked the same of Michael Schumacher, or Sebastian Vettel during their winning years, and put any of them in a mid to rear field car, and they of course will not get the same results.

However, to get to where they are, they have to have exceptional talent, and able to get the results for the team.

Ricciardo is in a top 3 team this year, but the qualifying and race results for the first 3 races, were a long way short of his team mate, in the same car. There was improvements in the last race, and hopefully he is settling into the team, and getting to grips with the car, for some hopefully awesome results this season.

But equal credit to Peter Bonnington, (Bono), Hamilton’s race engineer, for planning and making that call for the extra pitstop at 2/3 race distance, which even Hamilton had doubts about as he left pit lane, but turned out the right strategy for a win. :)

If Leclerc was doing a Schumacher, by deliberately bringing out the red flag during Q3 in Monaco, to preserve his poll position....... the plan went horribly wrong with the ensuing gearbox damage, causing a DNS on race day for him.

The Monaco track has a great way of stopping drivers exceeding track limits! :D

Monaco always a procession. Good to see Mercedes not on the podium.

Mercedes had their worst race in a long time - 1 x DNF, and just 7 points for their other car.

Red Bull bagged 37 points, which has had a huge effect on both the WDC & the WCC. :)

Great to see a battle at the pointy end this year, instead of 1 team way out front, in a class of their own...;)

How good was the Baku weekend? :)

4 Red Flags in the FP & Qually sessions, along with a Red Flag in the race 3 laps from the end.

Both drivers currently leading and 2nd in the WDC scored zero points, and a podium of drivers no one would have expected!

    Roll on France next weekend......;)

It appears the tyre mob have some serious issues to sort, same tyre on two different manufacturer's vehicle with two drivers with different driving styles. The first could be attributed to the serious pace required to climb through the pack, the second was out in the lead with a clear margin so he wouldn't have been doing anything different and the tyre failed on the straight section .... to his credit, he almost handled it wrestling it down to a manageable speed .... until the tyre bead let go, then there was no hope ...... I would have thought the tyre/wheel combination would be such that the tyre would not come off the bead like that ..... maybe they'll have to introduce those "run flat" tyres as another rule to add even more complexity to the tyre manufacture .....

The main issue Pirelli have, is that the tyres were not good for the max amount of laps, they said they would be, if it is a construction failure. Along with the fact that none of the monitoring sensors gave any warning of an issue before they let go. Yet to be assessed whether the tyres on both cars, were damaged from debris, or the construction failed.

They are also busy designing the tyres for the 18” rims next year, a change from the 13” rims on the cars this season.

The battle for the front & title, is better than it’s been in many years. :)

Great to see some real action at the pointy end for a change.

If the last two races haven’t thoroughly entertained…….. you are hard to please. :p

Roll on the next one of two, back to back in Austria. ;)
