It has been some time since I joined. I read often, but tend not to post. With all this poor weather I have some time on my hands so I thought that I would show all you Kombi Folk what I have been working on over the last 4 years.

I bought Franco about four years ago...looking like this.

He was neat, tidy and the previous owner had spent a lot of $$$ on the engine and transmission.

After some rust repairs, paint, various parts from (a most supportive Roy) and some late nights measuring templates for the seats and stitching, he now looks like this...

(My wife will kill me for putting that photo of her ...just focus on the Kombi)

I don't come from any car-resto-building-sanding-painting-sewing-big $$$ background. All the information I needed was right here under the "SEARCH" section. This community of Kombi lovers is such a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for everything that you have put on here. I know that you have heard this before, but it actually made a difference to my family. Sure I made some mistakes, but I took my time, asked some people with more knowledge than me and had a "crack". If it didn't work out I didn't panic (unless it was fitting those chrome trims around the driver's/passenger's windows on fresh paint...I was doing some unholy crazy-talk that day).

Having gained some new skills I then tackled my 1960 vintage caravan to partner it.

So now now Franco can cruise with "Sniffy".

Thanks Kombi community for all the advice that you post. Keep on posting and supporting...

    Warm Regards, Keith

Looks schweet :p of course you know now you'll have to get out to an event with both Franco and Sniffy and be prepared for plenty of attention.
