Moonee Beach is a small coastal village just north of Coffs Harbour. I am sure many of you have stayed here at some time and enjoyed the surf, fishing, swimming and crabbing in the estuary, or just gone for a solitary walk along the beach. Unfortunately, a DA for a 24-hour service centre and fast food outlet has been proposed at the entrance to the village. I won't go into all the environmental and social impacts that such a development might have; you can read about them if you're so inclined on the website. If you've been to Moonee and enjoyed it for what it is (a coastal village with a pristine estuary and beach in a marine park), I ask that you sign our petition at http://www.mooneebeachactiongroup.org/letter-to-john-gowing/ that asks the developer to withdraw their proposal in favour of something more community-minded. The residents of Moonee aren't against development; it's the type of development that is currently proposed that we're against. If you're interested, more information here http://www.mooneebeachactiongroup.org/ and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/moonee.beach.action.group/ Thanks.
