Thanks David, nice photos of the resto;)

Mmmmm, sounds like some work to be done. Was hoping it was a simple job as it looks like the bumper has had something bolted to the underside before. I like the look of the bar and will get it on, maybe a trip out to our local ‘Guru’ is in order...

More to do I guess :D

    Hi Marzy:
It looks like a bull bar off an earlier model of kombi up to 72 (lowlight ) as the outer mounting holes go in the same place as the foot steps on the wrap around bull bar mount and the middle ones mount where the bumper bar middle brackets mount ,so normally on a lowlight the bull bar is mounted in the same places as the bumper bar. How the later bull bars mount, that I'll leave up to some one that has one fitted. So I say if you want to fit that bull bar you would have to modify it :(or re sell it on to someone with the correct kombi:( and find one that is correct.:)

Weird that they mounted off the bottom of the footwells but def more secure than that 'wobbly' bumper underside:(. Nice spotto as you do;).
    Cheers

    Thanks Wayne

Ah, I thought that may have been the case! Well here goes..... "For Sale, bull bar to suit Lowlight" :)

I had a look at the bar on my microbus yesterday also and it's fitted totally different. Anyway, the spare tyre will remain in the back for some time then....:D

Wonder what the story is behind that.....

    Remove wheel
Cut stud so there's no shoulder and press it out thru hub then press in a new quality stud.
    Check splines are similar.

Probably just another numb nuts "mechanic" using a rattle gun to "torque" up the wheel nuts.

That’s an improvement, new tyres on Gertie today. Went with some Firestone CV4000 185R14. Long term trail vs the Toyo HO8 on Ernie the Microbus

Ready to start loading gear up for our first camping trip away this weekend ....now that it’s winter o_O:confused:

Great weekend away. Had to get a pic out the front of Over The Edge, a very cool coffee & bike shop in Melrose

Gertie drove really well. The new tyres stopped the road wanders :) and now I have a few ideas on a more permanent Camper fit out! Looking to book the next weekend away already

Might be time for some new number plates too:cool: getting a bit faded

Thanks Barry. Agree, I'll try to keep these current plates, maybe i can get the repainted, as they are no longer "reflective"... I assume that is what the boys/girls in blue would say... But older plates would have never been reflective anyway o_O maybe that can be my argument at the time!
