Gus..resto no.3, 58 split...

    to an old bloke that works out of his back shed:D ......a lifetime vw mechanic semi retired:) .....dad found him by a referral from his usual car mechanic....he only does referral work and only doing Gus because hes " very old....and original" :lol:

    well the good news from the kombi whisperer is the 1600 from Bruce is perfect..compression all good...although it hasn't been actually run for about 10 yrs ..seems that he had a major overhaul at some time...new heads ..flywheel....Did need something replaced(not sure) ...but wasn't major...etc....Tinware will be stripped and powder-coated and engine in by next week with a bit of luck...all in good kombi time:D

    As for keeping track of both projects Mish, he is actually female:p you seen him lately, he is due to pop anyday now:lol: :lol:

    Better that they think we're useless at multi-tasking.;)
    The look on Lyn's face was priceless when JD & I got back from checking out the splitty when JD informed her that I'd just bought it & he'd look for something else for her.. :lol:

    lol...glen..i cant slice bread, how am i going to weld..lol...leaving it to an expert...(plus i havent the time to learn) but have a vw man doing it for me....hes doing it at Daryll's (mechanic) so we dont have to move him...he has a gr8 workshop and hoist :D ....

    from the look must have been a big 100 bucks in steel ayyy.will be welded up in a day.

    interior is out...and welding started...Daryl is replacing everything that needs replacing...He still cant get over the amount of red dirt in him
    as he said
    "no good to keep bringing it back to have more work done...do it now"..
    leaving it in his good hands...
    the split has moved so will get pics up next week

    we will get his undercarriage soda blasted once all the welding is finished...then rust/ pained black...he will be a rat..but a very very safe rat
