    Hi Bert,
Hard to believe but the bash plate does slide out without removing the roo bar rear support cross beam. Just;)..
    Cheers

That's good to hear David - only Kombi I had a "roo" bar was the 1989 Caravelle but most of the time it wasn't on as didn't like the look BUT when it was on it was great to watch cars in front with the drivers expression when they cut in front with next to no room ..... would've hurt them more than moi

There were no mags ever optional for T2s.

Hey Chris, my Dad bought two VW Microbuses brand new in the late seventies and each time he organised with the dealer to have mag wheels fitted. The original continental brand 14" tyres were fitted to the mag wheels that he had chosen including the spare wheel. We end up with 10 brand new VW wheels in our shed.

    Hey Mr Beckstar
Loved Harry's story, just read it!! We had a beautifil 76 Orange Sopru in the early 90's (see pic below) and we have been searching for another. We have found an identical one (other than the colour) and should have it in a couple of weeks!! Looking forward to posting in the members rides section as soon as she's home. Thanks for the story and info
    Cheers

Wow love it nice ride from the past Geoff. Looks very original and I’d love to see more photos if you’ve got any, especially interior and engine. Did you buy that new? Did the roo bar come that colour or was that a modification?

Looking forward to seeing your new ride!

A mod! Were all galvanised ex 'factory'.
Pre July 76 cupboard kit but looks like a deluxe.
    Like the fire extinguisher;).
    Cheers

Hi Mr Beckstar, at the moment this is the only other pic i can find of her, sitting near our house at the time in Maroubra, and not a good one at that, seem to have misplaced a few photo albums (remember those). It was very original (still got the original wife too:).. This was about the only modification we did to her (kombi not wife), painting the roo bar white!! I have noticed the diagonal stay fitted to the roo bar, not sure where this came from, probably a previous owner as I haven't seen others like this, was probably to take a bit of wobble out of it I suppose. No we only had her for about 4 years, 1991 to 95 ish, bought her for $6,800 from a French guy in Glebe, felt like I'd paid way too much and was embarrased to tell friends how much I paid, sold her for the same price in 95, should have realised the direction they were heading back then....poor decision I know but the passion has never died

You're right David H, it was a delux fitout with the 240V hot plate on the sink and the bottle rack, such luxury love it !!

Will post more pics if we find the albums!!

    Cheers

All good. Thread has been a bit quiet on account I’m struggling for time. Ive done a few things to Harry lately but have been in a rush. Need to keep the photo log going though so I’ll just have to do better!
