Always best to call
Had some great waves and conditions at home this week. Kirra Point is one of my favourite spots for an arvo surf and then beer with the bride
I purchased my bus just as Cyclone Winston was hitting the coast in 2016 and that’s how my bus got its name.
Awesome day on the GC yesterday! Had the day off work with the bride so we had breakfast at The Alley with a swim, lunch at Duranbah while watching a longboard comp followed by afternoon schooners at Currumbin SLSC.
Life is good !
Someone has to do the dirty jobs
I think in general our bus is reasonably solid however it does have some rust that had concerned me. Ive been saving a few dollars and found a local bloke (Concept Coach Works) who was willing to do the job. Im pretty happy with the progress so far. All new metal welded in so should last a while. Im not after a show car, I just want the bus to be around for many more years of fun. Just need to save some more dollars and tackle the roof now. Not sure what lays under the pop top?
And how good does that look, nice work, cheers Greg
While surfing the net today I came across an article that referred to one Adam Gilchrist as a previous custodian of this van, wasn't difficult to recognise from the custom paint job which I reckon looks awesome, always great to know a bit of history about your car, anyway here is the link, cheers Greg
I don't think that is correct - @DaveC. would need to verify but I suspect that article has just taken a random photo of a kombi from google images.
No surely reporters don't do those sort of things, whats the world coming too , I was wondering why it still had NSW number plates , cheers Greg
Wonder if Gilly will join up and get some advice and share his experiences.
Classic. Good pick up. Looks like a pic from when Dave C owned it previous to us. The good old journo -never let the truth get in the road of a good story LOL
That photo of our old Kombi was taken a few years ago at Horseshoe Beach in Newcastle advertising Old Bar Beach Festival. The news article never got used in the paper, but they still have the photos they took of us and our kombi on file. We bought our kombi off a young surfie guy, the van was in a poor state, which we had it restored. So this isn't Adam Gilchrists' Kombi.
OK so its official! Adam Gilchrist did own our Kombi. I managed to dig up a photo of Mr and Mrs Gilchrist with our Kombi before we purchased her LOL.
From now on DaveC will be known as DaveG......LOL. Thanks Dave for clearing this up.
I was just about to post this photo!! You beat me to it
That kombi has a very unique trim. I like it. Is there a story behind it?
