    Hi Members,
I recently purchased this 1991 Dual Cab T3 Ute & wanting to just get her up to scratch. To start with I need to replace some tray panels & also replace the engine tray hatch & surround. If anyone can please give me some advice from where I could purchase these items from it would be much appreciated. This is my 1st VW since the early 1980's first was a 1.8L 1975 kombi camper in (Burnt Orange) & the second was a 2.0L fuel injected 1976 kombi micro bus in (Bronco Brown) & I'm glad to be back after a long hiatus.
    Cheers ChrisR

Welcome Chris to the KC,Hope you enjoy it wherever it takes you .Tray doesn't look to bad considering it's age. Finding panels are going to be difficult. Finding some panels for a T2 doka is hard enough, little lone a T3 doka.
How much difference would there be from a T2 Doka floor in length X width? Could one be used to make it fit?

Yep sure do. It’s still at the mechanics though and will probably be there for another week or so. Looking forward to getting it back so I can take it for a drive.
Hope that you find the bits that you are after Chris :)

    Cheers for the welcome Wayne,

    The tray is 1880 L x 1215 W

Most of the tray is not bad like you said but under the black bitumen tape there is a joint in the two metal sheets that has failed allowing water to the cross member below to rot out.

I'm thinking of cutting the deck back to the next cross members & welding in a new section & replacing the supporting cross member that has rotted out.

I have just fund this site below it's about $60 for a section of floor panel.

Is it big enough to do the repair or do you need two? Make sure the ute bed and floor bed are the same?or watch what you order. Other T3 people might know. As T2 Dokas are different the ute bed is different to the floor profile.
I wasn't aware what is available for a T3 Doka in panels, and the slats for a T3 match the profile of a T2 ute bed. As that's what I used to copy the slats for my T2 Doka. I'm not 100% sure how the original Ute bed was joined but isn't it overlapped and spot welded together and then seam sealer used?

Chris, welcome to the party that never ends ;)

Timber hatch over the engine bay - no replacement I'm aware of so people will throw a checker plate steel or aluminium section on - use the same fastening bolts and cover dimensions ..... otherwise find some waterproofed ply wood of same thickness and cut to size.

I don't recall the sections in the tray of my SC overlapping ..... think they were butted and welded or sealant in the gap - you should be able to check the underside out from inside the storage area.

As noted in the PM discussion, great purchase and welcome to the kombi and T3 fold.

If we ever get another event to happen (Easter Bus Stop next year - hopefully) you should come along - the T3 dual cab is a great vehicle for dragging the family through the countryside.
