We think we have got our hands on an early 1961 split screen... But we aren't completely sure.. I am having issues uploading pics ... work in progress.
We are hoping that someone in here can help us out.. We have one plate only - see profile pic.. We think this is the build plate.
The plate behind the drivers side seat in missing in action..
Is there other ways of finding out what model we have?

Bottom right there are three tabs middle one upload file from your computer. The photo has to be less the 1mb to load. If it is bigger it has to be resized by many different ways. depends on what programs you have to do it.or apps.
As tintop posted ,site above and yes it is by the number 633235 is a 61 model kombi. Engine bay also has the chassis number ,might be wrong but I think it's right hand side in the engine bay ,Some one may correct me

Nice score - chassis number 633925 equates to August 1960, almost the start of 1961 model year production. Bus should have twin tail lights (separate brake and indicator lights). Should also have 3 adjustment positions for the front bench seat. As stated above, chassis number is stamped on right hand side in engine bay on the panel below the petrol tank. On the left hand side there will be another stamping beginning with the letter "K" and a series of numbers. K stands for Kombi. Cheers

Thanks so much Ted... She is a little sad looking... But the plan is to try and get her back on the road..
    I've found the K number - K1208

No, August 1960 would be a 1960 model. 1961 models started in January in Australia.

We believe it is a 1961 model, but the Germany production year started August 1960

People did all sorts of things to VW’s in the name of “improvement”

I have a pic somewhere where people cut the split and oval windows out of early beetles and grafted in larger later rear window.

The rear lights on early VW’s was pretty horrid
