Hi all, I have recently taken ownership or a 1976 T2 Kombi. My father in law has owned it since the early 80’s. Mechanically it is in fairly good condition, but there is a few areas that need some rust repairs. Both front wheel arches, front panel, deformation panel and a couple of minor spots in the sliding door.

First on the to do list will be the rust repairs followed by some new glass and door rubbers throughout and probably lower the front end as it is currently riding pretty high!

If anyone has some experience with panel beaters and VW mechanics on the NSW MNC, I would love to hear some recommendations.
    Cheers

    Hi Hoppa,
Welcome to the Kombi Club & aren't you a lucky B;). Your dad-in-law must love you to part with that bus (Did he also volunteer at the Rural Fire Service?...number plate!). The rust you describe is pretty standard for the year model but you'll find that the rest is good. When you get the rust done start a thread in Resto Corner.
    I love 76 kombis:D.
    Cheers

RFS are his initials, Ron is a VW fanatic that has always had a beetle or Kombi in the driveway. He has so much Kombi stuff I need to sort through to see what I can use! This is a great starting point for a restoration.

Thanks for the heads up. I will go and see Shane for a quote. How much work did you get done there? A full resto?
