    My thoughts:
1 . Avoid doing things to get through VASS and then changing back later.
You are opening a personal liability and insurance can of worms.
Have a read of T1 Terry's posts in 'What made you happy today' re insurance for an unmodified vehicle starting with this post:
    2. Negotiate with the VASS engineer.
The Vic guidelines for older vehicles (pre-ADR) are not as specific as they are for newer ones leaving room for interpretation.
    3. Talk to the roadworthy assessor now.
Many roadworthy assessors will do a 'pre-purchase' inspection of roadworthy items.
Be upfront and tell them you are going through the VASS process and will need a roadworthy later but would like to know upfront what needs to be fixed.
    An hours labour well spent.
    4. Tyre placard image attached.
I've been thinking about getting some printed but haven't yet pursued.
Has anyone else done this or have another option?

Thanks Wiz - with things like the seats tho:

There is no way to get the rock and roll bed certified. So I kind of feel I am in catch 22 here.

The only things I will flip back after the Vass is the chrome steering wheel and the curtains.

If it is a Sopru there "should / could" be a a plaque on the seat bulkhead somewhere

This was an Australian van shipped to England and then shipped back again?

Can you get prior registration history?

    Thanks Barry.

The van was from South Africa originally. Then refurbed in the UK and then shipped to Oz.

But aren’t Sopru an Australian only conversion?

Just wondering if there is Australian registration history which will really help your rego (maybe)

Yes - the company in the UK - Gday kombis had an original mould and used that to fabricate a new one.

Ahhhh….. ok, doesn’t mean it comes under the same engineering certification of Sopru.

Technically there would be no difference.

But “technically” you can’t use that as a basis.

    A bit like Seb’s world.
You “may” need re-engineering or you “may not”

I’m out of my league now.
I only have standard factory tin tops

    @Tom P

Maybe worth starting a new thread so it is about your kombi and make it easier for others to find later. As this is in the “T3 & T4 Tech Help “ section

@rstucke has done this before but to keep costs down needs to order a few. Want to do it again Rick? I reckon they'd be a big seller here:). I got 15 last time & sold out at Swansea Bus Stop in 15 minutes. Passed on at the price I paid. Made no profit other than 15 Kombi owners smiles:D.
    Cheers

15 improved Kombis, and smiles to boot! That’s the ultimate profit! :)
That’s what KC is all about. I get given stuff, or have it sitting on my shelves, and happy to move it on for just postage costs, or better still, KC Express.

Also have stuff that I have bought, and would like to just keep incase, but if I see someone needing it, will also just move it on for cost.

It’s what keeps me being a part of the KC community. It’s all about keeping fellow KC members Kombi’s going, and no interest in looking at profit. ;)
