Age old question, but when I get the time will tell you. As a part of a clean up, I now possess the "file of blue Kombi" information, that starts with the purchase receipt, camper fitout receipt and every receipt thereafter for every bit of work or bit that was purchased.

    Purchase price on 28 Aug 1978 was $9110 & camper fittout on 19 Oct 1978 was $3266.

And just 10 years later on 8 August 1988, I have a receipt for the purchase of the Kanga Banga, a new T3 Caravelle , for $32,500o_O

From the look of the receipts and from my experience, buying the Kombi in the first place is certainly not the most expensive part of the experience.
Interesting to know the bottom line, just don't let the finance minister know the final figure!

Screen shot your photo then edit it in size, this should fix your problem
