I have had hot and cold results from Gowesty so no need to worry just yet. Have waited 3 weeks before and then as little as 7 days so you never know.

    Thanks Phil,

Puts my mind at ease a little, awaiting a new horn contact ring and indicator switch among some other bits. Would hate for it all to dissapear

Here is a great T3 and VW in general parts supplier www.rockauto.com lots of parts ar way cheaper than some of the other established US sites like Gowesty and Van-cafe so give them a go. They ship to Australia too. :)

I like these guys www.van-cafe.com allways good service and low freight cost to Australia

and you get a free cookie!

For a long time I searched Google for T3 T25 or Transporter until I made the life changing discovery that my vehicle is known as Vanagon outside Australia, searched Google for Vanagon and the results came rolling in ;)

I think a lot of us Aussies are unaware of this

and in oz http://www.justkampers.com.au/ are ok too

If you guys want anything shipping over please let me know and I will do my best to help you out. CampervanCulture.com is posting more and more to Australia these days so it really is no drama to send stuff or accommodate any spacial requests. We hold accounts with pretty much everywhere all the other companies buy their stock from anyway and can do group buys as well as single purchases.

Let me know, my direct email is jed@campervanculture.com.

Thanks to those who recommended rockauto.com
I took my alternator to a couple of places and both said it was not worth repairing. I wanted a genuine remanufactured 90amp Bosch unit. Prices over here are extortionate, I was about to place my usual busdepot order even though I've been unimpressed with their customer service and speed of delivery lately...their unit was going to set me back over AU$400 including shipping and the core charge. Rockauto came in at AU$275 for the same Bosch remanufactured unit including core charge and shipping as well as a couple of V belts that I needed. The big saving was the shipping which was only AU$40 for 6-7 day delivery. Arrived today - very impressed. I've found a unit on The Samba for $40 shipped that the seller is prepared to send to rockauto so I get my US$70 core charge back that will bring the cost down even further. I'll be using them again as my first port of call for parts like this

I bought a whole lot of parts from Van Cafe a few years ago and wanted to buy a remanufactured Bosch alternator but they didn’t want to sell it to me. They reckon the quality is not great which is ok in the US because you can replace under warranty but wouldn’t be worth risking sending overseas due to the shipping costs to return.

I have never heard of that before. Did they tell you what was wrong with it?

Vintage Vee Dub Supplies in Sydney will repair it. What ever you do, do not throw it out.

They are rebuilt in Asia. So only the original parts are Bosch.
