YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be there, Saturday night only due to work commitments and being distance challenged but I'm sure that will give us the KC fix we need. We will be bringing the 'kids' they have stayed there on two previous occassions......they want to know what's planned for dinner on Saturday night?
Michelle and Adrian booked today for both Friday and Saturday nights also ...see you all there...hope there's enough fire wood for both nights! We will be booking a powered site...........ahhhh heater, the dogs do like their creature comforts!...............Lorraine

Excellent news Lorraine - be great to have you guys and Michelle and Adrian there too. Wouldn't really be a KC party without you to be honest.

My shameful news is that we'll be driving our "other car", as Lola is in having surgery at the moment. I'm getting my suit of armour ready for the jibes now. ;)

Meeting people and getting my hands dirty

Is anyone going up this weekend keen to help me install a compufire ignition to my bus, it looks pretty straight forward but it's just the timing bit that someone may have a bit more experience than me. Also my manual hasn't arrived yet so maybe a pointer as to which cylinders are which????

It will be nice to meet you guys, I will be checking on the way home if there is room at the inn for saturday night if not i will just head down from my place which is 10 mins up the road at Sunshine Beach.

    Cheers Alex

Will do if you're gameI need to practise on someone elses before I put mine in Ha Ha
Leads no prob Follow numbers by sparkplugs on tinware if lost.
I have a multi meter with Dwell function so dead easy for timing although I think it is not necessarywith these units. I can do a static time. Dont have a timing light.
Does anyone know if there is much variation between static and timing light settings

    Hey cbus

I am game for it I have had a quick read through the instructions and it says specifically do not attempt static timing. With the rotor set in the correct position you ill be able to start the motor and then time it from there! They say not to use a timing light that pierces the lead.

I will do a more detailed read through tonight.

    Cheers Alex

    Hi Alex
If we are still sober we might hide in a corner and read the instructions.
Not very macho but avoids comittee decisions.
All modern timing lights are induction and dont pierce cable so no worries .
Still need one if anyone can help.
I suspect they avoid static timing as it usually means a light or other devive connected to one of the wires to the coil. The eletronic do-hickeys put out very high V so Im guessing its to avoid being bitten.
We will go with the wisdom of the elders , despite any strange translations from the original chinese or american script.

    cheers

    Yeah Col

I'll just try to memorize the instructions so i appear to know what i am doing, Mate you wouldn't want to be caught reading them in front of anyone.

Look forward to making it work!

Oh and by the way it is the primo Compufire kit- leads, coil pack new distrbutor top etc etc. Arrived from the states today much cheaper than here in Oz.

Surf is suposed to be good on the points this weekend so i hope i can get it to work properly without drama.

Are you asking me to choose between a surf or having croissants or having a cruise? Hmmmmmmm....be nice to surf in the middle of the day instead of 6am in the morning during winter.

Some of the boys and girls might want a play in the waves and maybe have a go at surfing each other's boards. I would love to try a Fat Assed Wombat shape if anyone has one.

Beach cricket, bocce, games,etc,.... bring them all along as it's a family weekend and we are all in for a laugh. Day games and campfire games.

    Activities at Peregian?

    Guys
With Peregian on this weekend we are open to suggestions of what you guys want to do.

A couple of you saw my ramblings about future Sunshine Coast Meeting/Get-Together ideas such as these from Kombi Lover 69/Jai's thread about a cheap lunch at the Golden Beach Tavern in Caloundra as a possible outing.

Some of my random suggestions that could happen at the Peregian Weekend could be
    1. Coffee Cruise to Coolum
    2. Surf Session and Learn to Surf Lessons for those willing to have a go
    3. Beach or Park Cricket with a tennis ball
    4. Magical Mystery Cruise by SMS
    5. French Bakery at Peregian.
    6. Barefoot Bowl at Peregian is sometimes on at the Bowls Club
    7. Inagural Bocce KC World Championships at PBCP
    8. Col's Kombi Clinic and Technical Get-Together
    9. Biggest Bull****** Award
    10. Biggest S***stirrer Award
    11. Designing a Kombi Club Mambo-style Hawaiian shirt
    12. Breadmaking with Col this is a serious suggestion really.....

Some of the others I mentioned for future Sunshine Coast Get-Togethers in Jai's thread were these:

    1. BBQ in Bellvista (Caloundra) playground, bbq's, tennis court, oval, cricket pitch
    2. Coffee at Coolum Cruise
    3. Kombi Club afloat on BBQ Pontoons on Nooosa, Marroochy Rivers or Pumicestone Passage
    4. Blitzkrieg on Bribie
    4. Col's Collective Workshop but not if he wears his Borat mankini
    5. Brett's Beer Tasting of pilseners, lagers, coronas, bocks, ales, etc by the pool in Bellvista
    6. Mystery Machine Kruize with texting of next location
    7. Pirate Ship Playground visit for the kids at Happy Valley (Caloundra) in honour of Woz and Alice
    8. Kombi Surf Day with Learn to Surf for those who want to have a go.

I am only thinking aloud here so am open to any suggestions. If anyone votes for Col's mankini option I running away quick smart. See what happens to teachers who have spares during the day.

Just starting the rot a couple of days early instead of Friday. The weekend is for having fun and it is compulsorary to have many, many laughs but please don't be scared new KC members..... be very, very scared!
