S0 we are away on a Kangaroo island trip.
Need to be at the docks at Cape Jervis by 8:30 Thursday
Day one was Wagga, met Anthony (Roo) and relieved him of the kombi Biography book.

Today we have traveled to Ouyen and were met with a rather nasty dust and rain squall after we set up camp
This was followed by a quick tear down , but all is ok. Tomorrow we make Cape Jervis
    pics to follow

AAAAAAAh ........... Irene washed the car 2 days ago, we had the shutters down so we didn't know the dust storm was on until I tasted it :mad::mad: then Irene remembered the bedroom window was open !

and yes there was a layer of grit on everything.:mad::mad: luckily I put the covers on the workshop machines after working on Paladins suspension, Kombi now has a heavy coating of dust.:(

Mildura has a dry climate and rust is not usually a problem in old cars so it really irks me to keep washing a vehicle that is know to be a rust bucket  not that our is ...............yet o_O

Ours is a minor issue when you think of our local producers losing so much topsoil, just another kick in head for our battling farm sector. :(

Ok so we made Cape Jervis yesterday arvo
Couldn't post from where we were.

Had lunch at the shearers museum as we went through Hay the other day.

The leg to and from Ouyen on the Mallee hwy was a lot of k's of this

    lots of ks.jpg

    With a lot of these

lots of these on the Mallee hwy..jpg

Had lunch at Strathalbyn. Kym's father and relations came from that area, checked some of them out on the war memorial
Sellicks beach was named after Kym's great grandfather after winning a horse race to it for naming rights.
When we leave KI we'll be around Finniss where the family farm once was.

Anyway bit over 1500km and we were in Cape Jervis.
the weather closed in and we had an early start on the vehicle ferry this morning so we got a cabin in a van park near the terminal (part of the original homestead when it was a farm, some of it still is)

We were met by some of these

Here's a couple of pics of today
Rough ride on the ferry (weather has closed in)
Not much happening as it is raining heavily which is good for the island as they haven't had much
So I've got time to do these posts.

    IMG_1300.jpg

On the Island just driven 60 or so k's in poring rain to Kingscote siting in the Ozone pub about to have another Cab Sav.
And yes I feel as rooted as I look (It's been long and fast).

That dust storm would have been scary in a Kombi. Enjoy the rest of your trip
