    clunking engine sound

My van was exhibiting surging when operating under a load and then atarted making a clunking sound when accelerating. I sensed imminent trouble and pulled the engine apart. I have never operated on an engine before, and can't see anything obviously wrong with the engine, which I have dismantled to the point of removing the cylinders. could the clunking be a need for new heads, or am I missing something?

Hirst "commandeered" himself to "oversee" the factory.... Citizens were already putting cars together on their own. If the british saw merit in Volkswagen, they'd be owning a piece of it. Has that happened...Noooooo.! Get over your past pride(suck it up princess!!) and go back to the world of steam....Nigel, when are you going to get out of that Library? BTW , have you ever thought of coming to the convict state(Australia) to live the world of squalor for a while??? Hard life down here it is...bring the tanning lotion with you!!!LOL!! "British colonialists" will be crushed under foot here in this convict state...

Remember the word " Gawler "... Australias worst town... It's right up there with Terowie on the Barrier Highway for livability. Lucky for you guys, there is a highway bypass if you are touring, so all you need to do is stay on it!!

    Hi guys,

Am I missing something? Based on the replies to 1500king's post, there was some very good information posted, but I can't seem to see it. Was there a link to an article that has been removed? Or is the advice simply "just add water" and i've missed the joke?
    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Let's just say a few people ruined it for everyone. 1500 had a few really great technical articles, but coped flack from a select few and deleted them.

I for one would love to see that article! If anyone happens to have saved it, I would really like to see what 1500 wrote.
The more info I have about overheating the better! :)
