    Hi,
theres a 1974 Kombi at a wreckers (listed as model - VW Kombi L). Newbie question I known but would the back seat of that be compatible with a 1975 Kombi ? I hesitate as the picture shows the 1974 as a low light not sure if they changed the interior when going to high light. Help and thanks in advance appreciate
    thanks
    Deryk

The seats from low lights to high lights will all fit (1968 - 1979).

As the last lowlight was 72, it's either not a 74, or it's not the right pic for the vehicle. o_O

But as stated already, the seats are all interchangeable. ;)

Wrong wrong wrong. Not all bay window seats fit all years 68-79 .As the last two to three years the tracks changed so the seats wouldn't fit with out the tracks being changed.
It's a fact and not being picky enough.:p.:eek:o_O;)

Agree with Wayne, I have early 74 that have to have tracks changed to take some late 74 seats

The OP was talking about the rear seat not the front seats so tracks not an issue.

I am amused that the bloke calling out someone in another thread for using "their" instead of "there" is calling someone else picky in this thread.

    Hey Mellow,
    That's called turn about!
& that's how Grantus approached me after my picky bit about there/their.
So the back seat will fit all buses from 69 on.
    Cheers

C'mon children, keep it on topic please......about the seat.
You are not helping the original poster with this banter regarding semantics.
    Cheers,

    Facts not semantics ;)

The lowlight and later bay rearmost seat fit dimensionally but the lowlight has single central " catch" for seat back (on vertical panel between wheel arches) whereas late bay has 2
    ( spaced apart)
Easily adapted if necessary on the panel.
    74 and 75 are identical.
    So...
    Both will fit.
Ensure its actually a kombi seat.
( seen plenty of Toyota seats advertised as being out of , or suit a kombi) ;)

I would consider correct year identification of year an important factor as many sellers or owners are often incorrect.
Further factor is the amount of
" owner modifications" that can mean that the vehicle parts do not match the year anyway.

Thanks all, not only helpful but also interesting (excluding the English lesson ;)). So, after driving for 75 minutes to the wreckers, turns out the 1974 Kombi was actually not there, an old post they had not taken down from their website (buyer beware!!). I did email and ring them before heading there but they didn't reply to either. Live and learn, a story for the camp fire....... so.........have managed to tracked down an seat from an 1981 vehicle (think it was 81, could also be 85 ), will that fit a 1975 kombi ?...I doubt it but thought I'd ask...Thanks again all, loving the education and help:)

No it will not fit. That would be from a T3 and they are wider.

How urgent is the rear seat.
Can you wait till after Christmas.
I've got a lowlight seat in my 79 camper that will be for sale around then.
It's a dark red basket weave vinyl.
If you find one in the mean time all well and good.
If not you can have first dibs.

forgot to mention that it was adapted to fit by bolting an angle between the 2 mounts in the bay, and sliding the single tang of the back rest behind the angle iron.
works a treat and can't be detected.
