....and ironically all three judges now dropped because they wanted a 40% increase on the 1 mill. EACH salary they receive, for next year........
    oooops !!

Funny if it was one of the following sort of moments-
Judges - "If Goerge goes then we go too".
    Channel 10 - "Okay".
    :p

Col, tell Alanna to hit them up. $1 Mill to be a judge. She is an up and coming star who is known to be ethical with her staff. They might jump at the chance.

The guys are very approachable tho.
Haven't met them personally but both the kids have spent some time with them after working food events.
And obviously Alanna has filmed with them.
They visit a mates patisserie each time in Noosa.
Have been to Alanna's last and current restaurant numerous times and have backed her and her work.

I recon after 11 seasons they would be wanting a break.

As you all know I fully back people being treated fairly and paid their dues.
Have no time for the old abusive kitchens.
My attitude to paying staff properly is remember that they can screw you over badly with theft or negative attitudes toward customers.
Not that that is the reason to pay appropriately but remember it if there's the intention to treat them poorly.

    But looking from employers side.
Govt wage line support is crap.
The info is often wrong and they disavow any responsibility.
    Accountants are generaly crap.
Again no responsibility, big dollars when you are doing much of the work yourself, often a half educated fool with high school theories and no understanding of the minutae of hospitality.

Running any business is multitasking and each is often almost a full time job in itself.

I have not read the case against George and don't defend any deliberate screwing of staff but keep in mind that there is a ###t load of detail that can accumulate that doesn't get attention.
The norm has been long hours on crap salary.
This has needed attn for decades.
It is no wonder that the industry is desperate for chefs and apprentices.
The govt response has been lower the requirements to pass and the disaster of carpetbagger , on job training agencies.
" Sign and we receive our money "
I consider much of the content of Sydney morning Herald to be poorly copied/ composed Facebook level clickbait.
There's no excuse for not paying entitlements like super etc but relying on those tasked with the job can be a continual pot luck until you get the right accountants.
Delegation is essential in a big operation.
Running kitchen and front of house is only part of any operation, regardless of size.

A lot of the well known restaurants are semi corporate entities.
Overall few owner / chef establishments survive due to the low margins.
Being part of a larger group allows one to survive the lows.

Alanna was considering operating her own restaurant.
I wasn't in favour due to the enormous amount of ' non contact' work required.

Sitting and chatting at "Arc" it confirmed she has done the right move at this time.
There is no way we could raise the capital to build and fitout an establishment like that with the position/ views without being hammered by backers desperate to see a return on their money.

Plenty of room to grow as well.
Excellent reviews and responses but one must continue to refresh and hopefuly become one of the establishments with a history and solid reputation that perseveres.
I know she has the skills and ability.
She has had strong industry wide support.
She has had to develop the skills of corporate weeling and dealing to establish how the restaurant would be placed and run with her style.
Getting the team she wanted in kitchen. ( 16 well credentialled chefs ).

    Back to the beginning.
Without sound knowledge of what went down I wonder how things actualy evolved with george.
I make no excuse if the findings are true to events and personal culpability but...

From personal experience, I have almost nil faith ( actualy none in " fair work" or whatever moniker the go under now?) in govt industry assist mobs, small claims courts, lawyers.
And know what has been the " norm" that is overdue for change.

I also think that we need to recognise that all three earn substantial incomes outside of MC....
Asking for a 40% increase, pushing their MC income only over the 1mill. mark, is excessive in my opinion.
However, as you say Col, the facts.....all the facts will probably never be known.
    Cheers,

Unless you are in there and have a real feeling of what's hapening, your at the mercy of the media machine.
Thanks for showing a grounded light on this over reported bias, sensationalised news.

Would love to read the entire article.
She’s a true talent and gorgeous (which is clearly from the maternal side :D:p).
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more employers had the same approach to happy workplaces. Easier to get up and go to work and more productive!

So happy for you and Alanna, Col! :)

    Thanks Bert.
Got a heads up to grab a copy.
Going to need a bigger hat to fit her head as well.
Argued with the old man before.
Is going to be a pain now ;)
Think it was gourmet traveller awards last week.
    They are now national.
Awards night was held at convention centre next to her restaurant.
So she had to do two dishes I think .
    800 covers.
Got runner up best new restaurant and think 37 ?? Nationally.
    Reviewed as 1 hat.

Courier Mail delicious magazine top 100
    ( Qld)this w.e.
    #1 new restaurant
    # 1 Qld chef.

Time to stop being a show pony .
But it has opened a lot of doors to do a lot of things she loves.

Definately dinner whenever you get a chance Mark.
Try St Peter in paddock, Syd.
Similar quirky style. That where she had 2 hats .
She was sitting with Josh Niland at the awards.
Good to have some time to catch the old crew from Sydney.
Has a speaking gig on leadership for MAD in Sydney soon by kylie Kwong.
So still flitting around like a prima donna :)

Maybe Bert can photo the main peice Ninga.
I'm lazy at Tech stuff o_O
