Thanks for the feedback guys, I agree, the old sticker stays, I love it actually. I was brought up by my Dad to whom I owe so much, to restore anything that isn't pretty much perfect and his cars are absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure the time will come. We are planning on using Gertie for many great trips for now and she's definitely up for it, loving owning her!!

Perfection but a transient part/day/moment in life. Gertie's time will come;).
I understand your confusion/motivation about Gertie & renovation (given your dad history) & I'm pleased you've decided to go the 'go & enjoy' route.:D
    Cheers

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but surely this was about the Kombi on Palm Beach road:)

And it is from Richard Clapton that "Welcome to party that never ends" comes from :D;)

It's Deep Water by Richard Clapton that refers to "Sitting out on the Palm Beach Road, I'm so drunk and the car won't go, My crazy eyes keep looking out to sea":p

Audrey the 74 Sopru got us home yesterday, full of IKEA and ALDI loot (including the chairs after nearly a dozen stores), with out missing a beat. We even did some polishing in a layby on the highway to get our minds working on more than the road ahead. Now to get her registered. Few little jobs on the list as well and also with my own, (not to mention our part of the IKEA load).

Thanks to all who we saw on the way, and especially Geoff who convinced Karina with his photos to take the plunge.

Thanks must also go to Karina (kombiewomble) herself for asking me along. Loved every minute of it.

Hey!! so fantastic you drove all the way home, what an awesome, beautiful original machine she is. So great to see another one out of the shed and back on the road where they belong. Get the elbow grease going Karina, she'll polish up beautifully. Ill keep my eye out for more pics in your members rides thread and great to meet you, and you again Adrian!!
