Alice decided to join finally Hello everyone, I've been to a few kombi club (melbourne) social events and thought I should join. I'm Van Housing's concubine. I love old cars and beer...so I'm finding the Melbourne kombi crew lots of fun. See you all in Canberra
Another New Member from WA Welcome to Kombicam -another joining from WA. I think there is another member out near you -Molly- but not online at moment.
Hey Alice, Welcome aboard.... Does that mean Woz's pirate theme will become the White Wabbit.... All fluffy with a weird top hat....? And a waistcoat.... Quick pass another mushroom...
Woger in Wonderland Welcome to the Kombi Club, Al! Alice has been threatening to join for a while as she has been coming to our Melbourne events (and is coming to Canberra, of course) and has been envious of the cameraderie... She has her own computer but only members can access attachments... I am pleased she's joined as it also increases my chances of having a second kombi in the yard... (It's a club rule, Al, I have no choice...!) Woger is already white so it would certainly be easy to go for a "Wonderland" theme, it would look way cool too.... but it would be better to do it on Alice's bus (when she gets one...) P.S. "concubine"????
another newbie Thanks Roy for the welcome to all of us....I am in a bit of a quandary about just what it is i own..lol....gees that looks bad now that i wrote it..I mean to say..^ years ago i bought a 73 kombi and was told by a mechanic up here that it was a micro bus...I figured he should know as hes german and worked in a vw factory there way back...now i have a 74 and to tell the truth it looks the same and yet pictures i look at seem to suggest its a bay...im confused...but then again im blonde...i have a natural affection for the vw's as my dad had one years gone by and we went around oz several times..i like to think im a kombi nut...but im just an infant still....still learning...How do i tell if its a bay or a bus ..and...does this make a difference in spare parts?...PHEW
Ok Kelly...a "bay" is short for baywindow...you notice how the ones with the split down the windscreen are called "splittys"? Then there is the T25 or T3 which is the 82 onwards models which are "squarer" and then there is the T4 which are the ones with the motors in the front from the mid 90's onwards. Now a microbus is a kombi with seats in the back and thats how they came from the factory , so you had a "bay" in 73 and it was probably a microbus and your 74 is a "bay" as well. Someone else can fill in other model details...I'm off to bed.
