Probably seen better days BUT just reclean it and add a second strap to it and solder both straps and connection together so you have double the dimension, then clean terminals and especially where it fits onto the body. You wont believe the difference it makes regards recharging time for battery. did it to mine and got 7 years out of the battery.
read it somewhere and decided to give it a go ,nothing ventured, nothing gained , and cant do any harm .
gave the body a good scrub back made a bracket strong enough to hold both cables together the soldered it all together at both ends ,wrap the whole lot up in duct tape then rebolted it back on to the body ,it works extremely well, lots of charge there to give it a good kick first thing in the morning.

Hi all. Just bought my daughter her first car. And thanks to the admins for excepting us. Can’t wait for the kombi life and experience. She is only 4.5 yrs old. But she has a 1976 pop top type 2 bus.

Hi all, just joined and just about to get my first Kombi. A fair bit of work to do first but we're (my wife and I) excited about the journey.
Anyway, I'll no doubt have heaps of questions in the future so I'll be around.
    Cheers, Geoff.

Hi guys, finally got the bus home (well, a fairly big chunk of it anyway) and rolled into the shed. Much work pushing UP the slope using a crow bar and chocks. 200 - 300 mm at a time. But we're there.
Now to get the rest of the bits and then plan a course of action.
Will keep you up to date.
    Cheers, Geoff
(When I work out how to attach photos I'll put some up)
