Expect that could be because the cars are in motion while the picture is being taken and possibly curvature of the windscreen

They do don't they! I hadn't noticed... actually pic is a bit blurry up the top. It was taken from the very curvy screen of a 1965 F100. :p

Do the clear elephant ears do their job reasonably well?

    Now you've started it :D

Most answers will say that if you have an overheating issue then fix the cause rather than apply a bandaid, and they are correct.

But anecdotal evidence indicates that they do increase airflow and drop temps a few degrees.

If engine is running within stock temp range I don't consider them necessary. But also not detrimental.

Elevated temps without obvious environmental causes can indicate a need to check general tune of engine. Particularly timing.

Dottie doesn't overheat even when it's been horrendously hot on the road. I do the stop and check every now and again (wisely suggested by Dot's previous 'Mum' Jobell). So, relax, I won't get them! With my luck it's the sort of thing I'd hit my head on anyway (when walking past...)

    Re the photo quality...
I think I'll go with Barry's time warp.

Very strange placing of blurring that looks ' deliberate' in as a function of camera reacting to blur the gutter line in a specific area and oval shape that has an edge to it but does not include corners of roof line/ gutter.
Similar situation but not as sharply defined edge but same symmetry on bumper which is also a white object with horizontal characteristic.

Everything else in the full pic is consistent focus as expected with good depth of field and focal point sharpest about front of bonnet/ road close to front of bonnet.
Slight duality in shadow of bus which might indicate some duality of light source, probably due to slight overcast?

Some smear on windscreen rhs that gives depth to position of windscreen.
Which may indicate the blurring on kombi unlikely to match any factor due to windscreen.

Long waffle but curious as to what programing / aberration may be in camera that, unknowing to operator, deliberately obscures the specific features in the photo.?
